NFI Initiates Maximize Miles Campaign

This week, NFI initiated a new driver awareness and education campaign called the “Maximize Miles” campaign. It is intended to educate NFI drivers on how to maximize their miles per gallon and conserve fuel.

The campaign will initially focus on four simple steps to maximize miles:

  • Shifting gears at the right RPM for maximum power, rather than shifting at higher RPMs.
  • Starting trucks in the most fuel-efficient gear
  • Eliminating unnecessary idling.
  • Checking tire pressure before every trip.

According to Rob Barron, NFI’s appointed “Fuel Czar”, “If we can have every driver in all our fleets think about these four steps as they walk towards their trucks each morning, and then act on them, we will dramatically improve our fuel efficiency. This program will not only conserve fuel but it will also help to lower greenhouse gas emissions which is one of our goals as an EPA SmartWay Transport Partner.”

The Maximize Miles campaign will be communicated to drivers through letters, posters, driver-manager messages, newsletters and stickers placed on tractor dashboards. This campaign will be carefully measured for effectiveness.
