NFI announced today a return of its annual Truck Rodeo for the upcoming 2012 summer season. This will be the 8th year in a row for the Rodeo series, with five dates in various locations across the United States between April and October. The fifth location in Allentown, Pennsylvania on October 6th will host to the NFI Truck Rodeo Grand Championship.

NFI will be hosting the Truck Rodeos again in 2012 to promote local outreach within communities across the nation, to demonstrate the values of the family-owned company, and to attract drivers interested in joining the NFI team. The events will also demonstrate the company’s trucking and logistics systems, as well as the advanced professional skills of NFI’s drivers in keeping the roads safe while delivering cargo.

The competition will consist of NFI’s professional drivers competing in various challenges that require highly-advanced truck operating skills. Scenarios include driving an 18-wheeler backwards through a tight maze of cones, or stopping in just enough time to avoid knocking an egg from a cone on the pavement. Each competition will have anywhere between 10 and 25 contestants, each with years of experience in maneuvering large vehicles. The Grand Championship will be a competition between the top three contestants from each regional competition, with 12 contestants total.

Each Rodeo will also offer relevant safety facts for those industry outsiders interested in the precautions required to safely haul large loads over long distances. Drivers will discuss the DOT inspection that they conduct each day to ensure vehicle safety on the road, including thorough checks of steering, tires, lights, air lines and other mechanical aspects of each truck.

With around 100 attendees at each event, the Truck Rodeos are family events that offer a variety of activities for all ages, including DJ’s from local radio stations, great local BBQ and picnics, prize raffles, and a Moon Bounce and children’s rodeos at select locations.

The Truck Rodeos will kick off in Jacksonville, Florida on April 21st. This first event will be held at 13398 International Parkway, Suite 200, Jacksonville, FL 32218. The event will begin at 8:00 am and end around 2:00 pm. Other confirmed dates for NFI’s Truck Rodeos include Waxahachie, Texas on May 19th, and Allentown, Pennsylvania on October 6th for the Grand Championship. Addresses for these dates, as well as dates and locations for events in the Midwestern and Northeastern regions are yet to be announced.
