CHERRY HILL, N.J., 11/16/2015– Supply chain solutions provider, NFI, has ranked as a 2015 Top Green Fleet with Heavy Duty Trucking (HDT) magazine. This special industry listing annually aggregates transportation companies that strive for sustainability in the supply chain.
HDT’s 2015 Top Green Fleets include 50 companies that strive to lower emissions and lessen their business’s impact on the planet. This is the third annual listing for the publication, and NFI has ranked as a top provider each year. In selecting this year’s listed companies, HDT editors considered fuel efficiency, sustainable equipment usage, and facility improvements such as solar panels and energy-efficient lighting.
NFI constantly strives to create the highest possible MPG for its fleet through product innovation and driver training. The NFI fleet is equipped with wide based, low rolling resistance tires, 13 Liter Engines, and direct drive transmissions to achieve the lowest “down speed” possible while maintaining excellent drivability. Vehicles are equipped with full aerodynamic packages including side skirts and extended fairings combined with custom king pin settings for gap reduction. NFI also continues to implement the use of more natural gas tractors with 13 CNG tractors put in service February of this year and 12 more slated for an additional start up.
Throughout its 25 million sq. ft. of warehousing space, NFI has also implemented green solutions. Distribution operations are committed to recycling packaging materials, solar power is used at several facilities, including their corporate headquarters in Cherry Hill, N.J., and real estate properties are built to LEED standards.
