The Natural Gas Vehicles USA Conference & Expo brings together transportation industry leaders and natural gas utilities to explore the potential for and future of natural gas vehicles. In The Switch is On: Reducing Costs & Emissions For North America’s Fleet Operators With Natural Gas, panelists will provide insight on why their companies decided to invest in natural gas powered vehicles. Key points to be addressed include the cost breakdown of a natural gas vehicle infrastructure, understanding expected ROI, and common difficulties when incorporating natural gas vehicles into a fleet.
In 2012, NFI introduced the company’s first compressed natural gas fleet in California, and within a year had incorporated natural gas fleets in Illinois and Texas. NFI’s natural gas fleet in partnership with Lowe’s in Mount Vernon, TX is expected to reduce greenhouse emissions by nearly 20 percent for the regional operation. Currently working to launch a natural gas fleet in Pennsylvania, NFI is continuously exploring opportunities to utilize natural gas and alternative fuels.
An EPA SmartWay Transport Partner, NFI remains dedicated to sustainability in the supply chain. NFI trucks and trailers make use of AirTabs, trailer skirts, and speed limiters to decrease fuel usage. Currently working on plug-in charging systems for tractors, NFI pioneers the use of battery powered Auxiliary Powered Units (APUs). The EPA has awarded NFI the SmartWay Excellence award three times in recognition of sustainability efforts.
