ACT Expo Wrap-up: How NFI is Leading the Charge

For ten years the Advanced Clean Transportation (ACT) Expo has been the largest and most comprehensive assembly of advanced technology commercial vehicles. This year was no different as experts in the industry gathered in Long Beach this past week. Various projects and announcements were featured at the show, all of which will have a significant impact on NFI and the transportation industry for years to come.

JETSI

The project, known as Joint Electric Truck Scaling Initiative (JETSI), is the largest commercial deployment of battery‐electric trucks in North America to date, helping to significantly increase the number of zero‐emission heavy‐duty trucks available for goods movement while achieving necessary emission reductions. As a part of this partnership with the South Coast Air Quality Management District (South Coast AQMD) along with the California Air Resources Board (CARB) and the California Energy Commission (CEC), NFI will deploy a combined 50 battery-electric trucks at its Ontario facility and operate the first 100% zero-emission freight logistics fleet in California. Electrify America

NFI has partnered with Electrify America to develop the nation’s single largest charging infrastructure project to support heavy-duty electric trucks, with 34 ultra-fast DC chargers slated for completion by December 2023. NFI will deploy 60 battery-electric drayage trucks, becoming the first 100% zero-emission fleet operator and truck shop in California. Read the full press release.

Run-on-Less

NFI is joining Volvo Trucks North America in Run on Less – Electric (RoL-E), an electric truck technology demonstration that showcases advancements in freight efficiency. RoL-E is a joint effort between the North American Council for Freight Efficiency (NACFE) and energy non-profit RMI to demonstrate how battery-electric trucks operating in real-world scenarios can help fleets reduce emissions while reliably transporting freight. The three-week run kicked off on September 2, 2021 at the ACT Expo in Long Beach, California, and will end on September 19 in New York. Read the pull press release.
